What is Rhubarb?
Rhubarb is a Speech and Drama School based in Portishead, Bristol where everyone’s voices matter and all creative ideas are nurtured, valued and heard.
led by industry experts with many years’ experience of working within the Creative Arts sector, we are incredibly passionate about offering fun, original, high-quality experiences to children of all ages and abilities.
Saturday School
Rhubarb has a thriving Saturday School for children aged 4-18yrs. Our school has a focus on both confidence and skill building. Our curriculum has been carefully structured to build and develop skills in Theatre Making and Performance in a fun, creative and nurturing environment.
Theatre making skills: Storytelling, Comedy, Script Work, Improvisation, Devising, Directing and Technology in Performance (including Green Screen & filming).
Physical performance skills: Character building including Posture, movement and audience communication.
Speech and vocal technique: Projection, clarity of speech, diction and reading aloud.
Life skills: Our classes provide young people with a safe space to play, explore and develop life skills. Classes encourage Creative thinking, self-expression and problem-solving, building social skills, self-confidence and teamwork.
In School / After School Drama
Rhubarb works in schools throughout Bristol delivering high quality drama education and curriculum enrichment; including preparation for London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts examinations (LAMDA). We also offer regular After School Drama clubs, and bespoke one-off workshops using drama to bring subjects to life. We also offer workshops to community groups. Please get in touch to find out more.

Rhubarb owner and class Teacher
Shortlisted for IPSE'S 'Young Freelancer of the Year' award 2021!
Charlotte is a professional Drama Workshop Facilitator, Theatre Maker and LAMDA tutor with a BA Hons in Drama and Performance from Worcester University and a Higher National Diploma (HND) In Acting and Theatre Making from the Bristol Institute of Performing Arts.
Working full time in the industry for over ten years, she has designed and delivered Drama workshops and provisions for companies including;

The Team!
Rhubarb couldn't do the work we do each week without the support of our brilliant Class Assistants. The Rhubarb team are highly experienced in working with children and young people within both the theatre and education industries.
All of the Rhubarb team have enhanced DBS certificates and are trained in our Safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
