Job Opportunity; Drama Assistant
Rhubarb Speech and Drama School are looking for a Drama Assistant to help with our Seedlings class (Reception-Y2) on Saturday mornings (term time) between 8:30-9:45.
Rhubarb is a Speech and Drama School (based in Portishead Primary School, Bristol) where everyone’s voices matter and all creative ideas are nurtured, valued, and heard.
We have a thriving Saturday School for children aged 4-18yrs. Our school has a focus on both confidence and skill building. Our classes have been carefully structured to build and develop skills in drama, theatre making and performance in a fun, creative and nurturing environment.
Our Seedlings class (Reception-Y2) is a high energy, highly creative and fun group. Each term we have a new theme which we explore each week through drama activities, skill builders, games, and craft, which normally results in a small end of term sharing/show for parents.
Rhubarb could not do the work we do each week without the support of our brilliant drama assistants. Rhubarb’s staff are a small but dedicated team with many years’ experience of working within the industry. We are looking for a hardworking and passionate individual to become part of the team.
The right candidate will have an interest in working with children and young people in a drama and theatre making setting. This role would suit anyone wishing to enhance their knowledge and experience in this industry.
To assist the lead facilitator with the delivery of sessions.
To provide general and pastoral care to participants.
To assist with the direction and rehearsal of end of term performances.
To assist with the implementation of Covid safety measures.
Candidates must be 16+ and be willing to undertake a DBS check (we will arrange this).
Must be reliable and hardworking.
Must be hands on and be prepared to get stuck in and join in with activities.
Must be comfortable and confident working with young children.
Paediatric first aid training, (desirable but not essential).
Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding (desirable but not essential as training will be given).
Rate of pay; £10.00 - 15.00 per session (TBC; dependent on age and experience).
Classes are on Saturdays (term time) from 8:45-9:45, in Portishead Primary School BS20 7DB. We ask that all staff arrive fifteen minutes before the start of sessions to be briefed and help set up etc.

The successful Candidate may have the opportunity for professional development in future including first aid and safeguarding / child protection training.
The right candidate may also be offered future work on an ad-hoc basis to help assist with other groups and shows etc.
